One of the easiest and cheapest ways to enhance your smile is to whiten your teeth! A white, bright smile can be a confidence booster, and a great way to get noticed.
We have many different options for obtaining a whiter, brighter smile…but first, a few FAQ’s:

What causes teeth to become discolored?
There are numerous types of teeth stains; some are genetic, environmental, or pharmacological in nature. The most common are surface stains caused by foods, beverages, and lifestyle behaviors, like smoking. Your teeth are naturally very porous like your skin and when pores get clogged, it darkens or yellows the tooth.

Is teeth whitening safe?
As you would with any product you use on your body, be sure to follow the teeth whitening directions carefully. Some whitening products can irritate your gums or cause undue sensitivity if used improperly or too often. The best way to describe the whitening process is to go back to our analogy of teeth being porous like skin. When you whiten, the pores of your teeth are “exfoliated” by removing the layer of gunk (for lack of a better word). The whitening process is not removing any enamel, but just simply giving your teeth a “facial.” This is why some people experience sensitivity (especially to cold) while whitening. Their teeth are used to the extra sweater of gunk on them and when the gunk is removed, it takes a little time to adjust.

How long do whitening results last?
This depends a lot on your lifestyle, ie: food and beverage choices, smoking, etc. Obviously if you are drinking dark tea, dark colored soda, or coffee, you will have to whiten more frequently to maintain your results. Most whitening services are designed to last for a long period of time, but your teeth will re-stain eventually. In order to maintain your results, you do have to keep up on it to make sure that you don’t have to start at square one again.

Veneers are a way to be as conservative as possible when wanting a big cosmetic change. Veneers are a thin, life-like porcelain shell, bonded to your front teeth (with minimal tooth shaping) to give you a “million dollar” smile. When in place, veneers can give you a flawless, radiant smile and even act as a form of “instant orthodontics.” Veneers are a wonderful solution for those who have imperfect teeth with chips, discolorations, or large gaps. Call our Kaysville, Utah, dental practice today to schedule your free cosmetic consultation with our dentist and learn if veneers are right for you!
